The research vessel "Littorina”, owned by IFM-GEOMAR, which is based in Kiel and is operated by the state of Schleswig-Holstein, is docked in LINDENAU Dock II.

The LINDENAU shipyard was awarded the contract for the nationwide tender and has commenced work on the nearly 30m long ship, which should be completed within two weeks.

The ship will be docked in Dock II for about a week, to do work on the ships paint application. For this, the hull, the bulwark and all the outside parts will be washed and freed of fouling. After removing the rust, the ship and the foremast will be sanded down, conserved and repainted.
Also the anchor, hawses, chain outboard shot, ahmings, the ship's name and the side strips will be painted so that the research vessel can shine again.

The time in the dock will also be used to measure the axial clearance of the gear, the rudder shaft, and the shaft bossing. Furthermore, the sea valves will be replaced and work will be done on the cooling water pump, the wind direction and speed indicator, and some minor repairs.

Afterwards, the "Littorina" will be placed at the fitting berth in order to process the remaining work.Littorina Repair

All works are conducted in compliance with environmental protection measures.

After works have been completed a mega test will be carried out under accordance of the latest GL Class Audit.

The LINDENAU repair team wishes the crew of the LITTORINA a safe journey and always a few inches of water under the keel and hopes to welcome the LITTORINA or one of its sister vessels to the LINDENAU shipyard again.
